Creating & designing dashboards
Creating new dashboards
Section titled “Creating new dashboards”In a draft workbook, click the + Dashboard button in the top right corner of the document.
If you haven’t already saved and titled the document, you’ll first be prompted to do so.
Once saved, JustAsk will redirect you to your new dashboard.
Editing dashboards
Section titled “Editing dashboards”How you edit an existing dashboard depends on where you are in the document:
- In the dashboard - Click the Edit button in the top right corner of the document
- In the workbook - Click the Dashboard button in the top right corner of the document, then Edit
Designing your dashboard
Section titled “Designing your dashboard”While in draft mode, you can add, modify, resize, and remove elements in the dashboard. Your changes will be automatically saved while you work.
Adding elements to your dashboard
Section titled “Adding elements to your dashboard”Use the Add button in the toolbar to add tiles and layout elements to your dashboard:
- Charts - Add visualizations from your workbook queries
- Text - Add formatted text using Markdown
- Filter - Add interactive filters to control chart data
- Control - Add field controls to dynamically switch chart fields
Mobile layout
Section titled “Mobile layout”JustAsk dashboards support separate mobile and desktop layouts. To toggle between layouts, use the Mobile and Desktop toggles near the top right corner of the page while in a draft dashboard.
When you switch to the mobile layout, you can rearrange and resize tiles to optimize the viewing experience on smaller screens. Changes made to one layout do not affect the other, allowing you to create a tailored experience for each device type.
Dashboard tiles
Section titled “Dashboard tiles”Viewing dashboards as specific users
Section titled “Viewing dashboards as specific users”While you’re working, you may want to preview how your dashboard will behave for specific users. This can help you proactively address permission issues before sharing the content.
In a dashboard, click File > View as and select a user.
Unlike impersonating a user, this feature does not log you in as the selected user and does not change the user’s permissions, roles, or connection access.
Instead, View as temporarily applies the selected user’s user attribute values to your current session for the purpose of evaluating filters, row-level security, and other attribute-driven logic. Because only attributes are swapped, you may still see content or fields that the actual user cannot access. If you’re an Organization Admin, you should use Impersonation when you need to fully test permission behavior.
